The CIA does not cut you payroll, no, it tends to flag you in the host country's system. You get a paycheck from your official job, which as a foreign service/state job might also come with housing allowance or other extras. But it's admin pay for an admin job, nobody's getting wealthy on it.

This was at least true in the late 90s - I worked with a project manager who was ex-CIA. You usually get some kind of low-level State Dept job (visa processor, embassy IT, daycare teacher for US employees) and then have a social life based in part on some input from a colleague you see occasionally.

Hi Sally. When Weiss published a supposed expose on the death of George Floyd, a veteran criminal justice reporter showed in deep detail that the piece was not just wrong but filled with falsehoods and misrepresentations. Weiss did not retract the piece. What do you think of that?
