The National Popular Vote is a constitutionally conservative, state-based, nonpartisan approach begun in 2006. It retains the Electoral College & the power of the states to control how the President is elected. It will go into effect when states with 270 electoral votes join via legislation.

Presidential candidates focus all their attention on the battleground states, usually less than 10 states. All campaign efforts (events, polling, media) are there and the focus is on issues that are important in there. We need the National Popular Vote to get candidates to campaign EVERYWHERE..

Winner-Take-All system awards all of a states’ Electoral College votes to the candidate that wins the most votes. The margin could be very few votes or a very large number of votes. Voters in the minority effectively do not have their votes counted for president. It is currently used by 48 states.
