CRASH & BURN

When I was a kid I loved ZOIDS and assumed I'd grow up to work for TOMY. That's not come to pass sadly, so I have begun a personal project of painting the kind of scenes I imagined back then.

This is made to happen by a symbol of the real, forcing it's way into the fantasy world, causing everything to rotate in a vortex around it.

As their actions bring them fully into the fantasy, they must dissolve it to escape. But fantasy dissolved back into reality is always a nightmare.

One of being burned alive, the other of becoming a prisoner of desire unsated. Both trapped forever.

The fantasy is one of a reactionary past, as inaccessible and terrifying as it is seductive.

Our heroes cannot stand this, and go about trying to bring it to an end.

They do so all the while becoming trapped within it.

Right here's the thing, The Wicker Man and Local Hero are the same film, but from different perspectives.

In both cases a reluctant virginal man is sent into an enchanted realm of fantasy, to discharge a duty that will end it.
