Amid the chaos, I’m often asked about our role as a journalism organization focused on solutions. So I wrote this letter to readers about my biggest hope for @nextcity.org in 2026.

The idea is that, solidarity itself is a long-term solution. Our coverage can prove it's possible.
Letter to Our Readers: Proving It’s Possible
Next City makes it our job to document the solutions that prove construction of a more equitable future can never be stopped.

A little experiment—something about Frédéric Chopin's B section of "Raindrop" for piano always sounded epic, so I created this orchestral arrangement to experience that scale.

I wrote something a little different. Probably because I’ve been wanting to go see the new Tron movie.

Look up the history of the "Lavender Scare" in the 1950s and 1960s.

This week, a queer FBI agent was fired for having a rainbow flag on their desk.

To be clear, the flag wasn't on display now. It was on their desk last year, before Trump was even inaugurated.

I'm writing music for an upcoming short film—which, yeah, is pretty cool. I'm learning that sometimes you have to write a piece to get it out of your system, even though you know it won't ultimately fit in the film.

That was the case with this piano piece. Instead, I get to share it with you here.
