🔸 The average U.S. nursing home provided 3.75 total nurse staff hours per resident day (HPRD), including 0.61 HPRD for registered nurses (RNs).
🔸 The staffing expectation model shows that 90.2% of nursing homes reported staffing levels below their expected HPRD.

CMS will increase Medicare payments to SNFs by 3.2% in 2026, providing an estimated $1.36 billion in additional funding.

While providers welcome the increase, it is unlikely that these taxpayer dollars will result in much needed improvements to care without meaningful oversight and accountability.
