"Since the fall of the Covenant bloodshed is all that we have left. Bloodshed against humans. Against Jiralhanae. Against our own kind. The galaxy burns."

Hard to fathom why Jul 'Mdama held such sway when humans like this existed.

Nearly impossible really.
no better choice than I will heed your counsel."

The suggestion of turning to the human's AI disgusts him, and he makes no attempt to hide such disdain from his voice.

"I think not. Those cursed pieces of technology have caused enough problems. For all their faults the Prophets were right to -
they would be much help."

So ill-prepared he was. What a folly this was. His original plan after gaining the support of the Arbiter was to acquire mercenaries. Still shameful, but no where near as having to rely on the humans. The Arbiter did not think kindly of that plan.

"If you think there is-
Loquen listens intently as Khovo tries his hardest to list off all he knows of the human. It is mut much but it is more than he knew a cycle ago.

"A demon you say? Are you sure it is to be forthcoming with a former enemy? The stories of their ferocity and tenacity would not lead me to thinking-
was always something odd about saying that name; he couldn’t seem to get the inflection quite right and no doubt, it would sound ‘wrong’ to a human.

“If all else fails, the ship bears an artificial intelligence. He may be of some help, though I anticipate that his responses may be guarded.”
a human in combat in many years. Since even before the end of the war. Once it had ended I thought it may never happen again."
Humans will bring them in line once and for all."

The Kaidon followed Michael into the ring, a subtle click of his mandibles telling his guards to not interfere. He was reluctant to get into a fight with any human while he was aboard. In this case he felt he had no other choice.

"I have not faced-
in remembering your home. You do your world proud."

Oddly enough, he found himself sympathizing with the human over a bloody past with the Jiralhanae.

"An apt name for those disgusting vermin. Even now they're a stain on the galaxy, causing bloodshed and chaos. Perhaps one day the Sangheili and-
Loquen found it extremely unlikely that there were no Sangheili present during that attack but choose to not comment on it. That would not be good etiquette. That much he has learned so far.

"I do not know if I have ever seen such a substance before. I have no right to say this, but there is honor-

“…family didn’t do too much better. Fact that I survived thanks to CMs was lucky.”

The Spartan stepped into the ring, unnervingly calm for a man recalling a most certainly painful past. But there was a gentle shake. Of anger or the pain.
of taunt? Or just a symbol of what humanity would persevere through? As much as he may have wished it could not go without acknowledgment.

"That is a dark but important reminder of the past our two species share. Our deeds in the war have stained the honor of the Sangheili for the rest of time."
the substance he believed it to be emulating. It had been the ships at his command that had helped to create it on many a human world. His hands had been the ones to present a shard of their achievement to the hierarchs. A shameful reminder of his past, one not easily forgotten.

Was it some sort-
In preparation for what would come next, he had removed his cape and other unessential livery. He saw little point in risking their damage. The Sangheili spent the time waiting for the Spartan to return admiring the strange walls that made up the human 'War Games.'

Loquen was more than familiar-
—the pigment of lechaterialite. The glassy substance that many human worlds had. Whether it was actually constructed from such material or simply looked like it it was rather painfully obvious there was something about the Spartan that deeply cared about the world he came from.

would be time for that later.

"As it is combat rarely clears my mind. I do not expect humans to make that any different. I come into this meeting disadvantaged enough I see no reason to worsen my odds. Perhaps there is somewhere we can discover more information about him."
By the time he had made his mind up about the human, things may have been set in motion that are too late to stop.

"Do you know anything of his service in the war? It may give us clues."

At Khovo's suggestion, Loquen shook his head slightly and his mandibles dripped down and to the left. There -
advantage. Though it would certainly serve him well in a few hours.

"I will try my best to keep that in mind. Even if regardless of my doubts I have to rely on him."

He did not expect Khovo to give him all the answers but he had hoped for more regardless if it was a realistic expectation. -
not entirely trust /this/ human. The only reason to say such a thing is if there are humans you trust. That is all I had meant by it."

It was an unfortunate habit he had picked up as Kaidon. Every word and phrase must be mined for deeper meaning if only to try and ascertain some sort of -
Loquen has come to the humans a beggar, but there are limits to what he will stomach. Smiteful comments, scorned glances and the like he could ignore. Anything more and he would show them the end of his energy sword.

"I was merely noticing the implication of your words. You do-

“We are near the Spartan deck. Their simulators offer a chance for you to witness our Swords fight alongside the humans.”

If nothing else, it would perhaps give him more peace of mind to see more of his own kind aboard.

He was not blind to the reactions of others aboard to his presence on the ship. He paid them no mind but it did not mean he didn't see it. It made him all the more appreciative of Michael not treating him with disgust.

The more and more questions Loquen asked the more he seemed to regret it. Classes, generations, companies! It was all so foreign to him it bordered on being meaningless. Next time he would be more guarded with his questions.

"You have my gratitude Spartan. It can be no easy thing to explain this-

He didn’t go into more details about the nature or the source material for recruits, because that was still very much classified. But eventually the Spartan gestured with his prosthetic limb.

It was a half truth. There had been a lot of hunting going on so far at their camp, even if it was not their main goal. There was no reason to share that yet though
