“If you refuse to let my people go, I will send a plague of frogs across your entire land. . . They will come up out of the river. . . .They will enter the houses of your officials. . . Frogs will jump on you, your people, and all your officials.” Exodus 8:2-4

I have a million photos & videos from today’s amazing #NoKings in #Portland, but I’m pretty sure nothing will top the frogs dancing to “Peace Train” on the packed Portland waterfront #NoKingsPDX
Where there's no smoke, there's no fire. No #Portland burning. The beauty of peaceful protest is that performing a counter-narrative is much more effective than arguing against one. #nokingspdx @wyden.senate.gov
Thank you for this analysis.

I had made myself a note (so many notes!) to circle back around to the wonderful @bethcastrodale.bsky.social in November to see if she'd had time to read my debut novel Sunshine Girl. She beat me to the punch with this amazing review! Thank you, thank you, Beth.

Democratic socialism and socialism are not the same

You continue to refer to Democratic Socialists as "socialists" and I wonder if you understand the difference.
Why are you referring to Democratic socialists as socialists. There are significant differences.
After identifying the Portland city councilors as Democratic socialists at the start of this article, @kellen.bsky.social (or the @nytimes.com editor) refers to them consistently as simply "socialists". There is a difference. The terms are not interchangeable.

Welcome, but damn--Hina?
Huge loss for Portland and bad for business too.
I went downtown this week to shop at one of my favorite stores: FREE PEOPLE.
The Fairness Doctrine required broadcasters to fairly present both sides of an issue ( i. e., to avoid "bias"). The FCC abolished this in 1987 because it determined that requiring a broadcaster to present both sides of an issue violated the first amendment by restricting free speech.
'Kavanaugh claims that it is just “common sense” to stop Latinos who look like they might be engaged in low-wage jobs and question their immigration status.'

What else is just "common sense"? Paying men more for comparable work? Saying marriage can only be between a man and a woman?
Here’s my write up on the most racist decision to come out of the Supreme Court in a while. The court approved of Trump’s racial profiling of Latinos with Brett Kavanaugh saying being harassed based on the color of your skin is “common sense.”

The court’s ruling allowing ICE to resume its indiscriminate round-ups of LA’s Latino residents can only be described as one thing.
