The California Water Board is highly professional and reasonably balanced regarding corporate, environmental, and public interests. I'd say Newsom wants to protect his tech oligarchs from oversight.

His career so far seems focused on being in the MAGA pipeline to greatness, not really interested in his district except as a starting platform. I won't be surprised if he ends up in the Trump admin after Nov 2026.

He sends out email invitations to log in to a zoom town hall that people mysteriously have technical issues getting into, and he only takes questions he wants to answer. I wouldn't call them real town halls.
