I’m rapidly reducing my monthly outgoings and rationalising what I can either just stop all together or find an alternative way to consume the same content for free. It’s a pretty tough time right now with a much reduced monthly budget and everything that goes out needs justification. It’s one of the reasons this blog has been quieter, I just don’t have the funds to get new things to talk about.

My creative work is now being used without being credited, it’s a new thing but it at least shows it’s becoming more popular. This one I don’t mind because it’s inspired by something else. I’ve been enjoying the new lock screen on iOS 26, there’s a lot I’ve been vocal about not liking but this isn’t one of them. Finding a wallpaper that works well isn’t too difficult to be honest but I wanted to share some of my favourites. This one I took on my iPhone 15 Pro. As I’ve written about before my blogging mostly happens on an iPhone. 90% of the posts you read on here come via my iPhone and the Jetpack app. I realised listening to a podcast about ADHD and distractions that I might have been doing it to avoid distractions. When I’m on my phone in one app, I’m in that one app.

Clickbait and YouTube go together, it’s one of the reasons (for me) it’s becoming a less and less of a useful platform for information. It’s a platform with obviously loads of cool creators (I even try to create content) and I advise to stick to only viewing your subscriptions but it’s overwhelmed with influencers and grifters (try finding a photographer not selling a course or lightroom plugin).

As I’ve been set off on a bit of a new path I’m trying to use my camera as an escape, a way to help me through tough times. It doesn’t matter if it’s with my phone or my dedicated Sony camera I’m trying to take photos wherever I am. I’ll make sure that I’m taking photos even if it’s just on a walk to the shops to get some milk.

For the last year or so I’ve been trying to stop channels from appearing in recommendations but it’s a waste of time. Even though sending signals to the algorithm seems a logical thing to do, it doesn’t seem to do anything. The conclusion I’m coming to is just stick to your subscriptions and do your best to not use recommendations or for you.

Apple are slowly introducing new ways to reduce the Liquid Glass effect in a bid to make it a bit more readable for those of us that need it. iOS 26.1 beta 4 brings a new tint option which makes the glass darker, like a pair of sunglasses. It doesn’t give us anything like iOS 18 back but allows you to see what’s within the text bubbles better.
