There is anger, but there is also hope and joy. There is just something about seeing so many people come out in support or defense of the things you care about. At least in red states I know it is easy to believe you are small in numbers and nobody else cares.
Hey all! Sorry, I'm not one here much. I was going to use this to replace my doom scrolling on FB, but it didn't work.
voltcon.org my brain is full of happy chemicals after spending the weekend with all of the amazing staff and attendees at VoltCon.
I try to discourage anyone from coming to the US right now and I worry about reentry for friends and family who are traveling out of the country.
The rest of this year is about finishing a whole bunch of incomplete projects. A fire pit is something we've talked about before, but it was a quick project. So it was okay to start a new one. Even if it was allowing me to procrastinate on something else, it was done in less than a week!!!
It has gotten cooler in the evenings, and @lizzschunn.bsky.social decided we needed a fire ring, so...
Sorry it's been a bit. The world is absolute garbage.
She is such an adorable little punk ass.
And now to give this jealous puppy attention. She will be happy when the chicks are out of the kitchen.
I think this is the last one. This punk ass is Athena. She is hard to get away from the others for pictures.
This lovely little bird is Hecate. When we got them she was the smallest and had a bald spot on her butt so for the first couple of weeks she was Naked Butt. The bald spot is covered in feathers now, thank goodness.

So there are 3 birds that were very similar. Amaterasu, Hathor, and Apolo. When they had baby feathers we could tell them apart because Apolo has a darker dotted line, Hathor had a darker dot on her head, and Amaterasu has no dark spots.
I am about 90% certain this is Amaterasu.

This little one is Icarus. At first we thought they were immature and would catch up, and thought Icarus would be cute. Now we are planning modifications to the coop plans so that she can reach everything more easily. 🫤
This is Aris. She is an asshole to the other birds and thinks she is a parrot/shoulder chicken.
This is Artemis. She is the smallest of the black chickens and is the first to run towards or away from things.
This one started out as Goldie because she was the lightest of the Rose Island Reds. When we decided to go with names from Mythology, she became Iris. Her bestie is Hera.
This little cutie is Persephone. She does not hold still for pictures. She has lots of baby feathers on her head still and so far has the most feathers with brown on them.
This is Hera. She does get up and move around like the others but she is most often seen loafing on a foot or lap.

Babies are getting bigger and the things we used to tell them apart are changing.
Meet Demeter she is a Black Star who currently is mostly black with some brown on her chest feathers.
I was about to revive the podcast and then I got chickens , so maybe when I get the coop and pen built and get them out of my kitchen I'll probably start planning episodes.
that reduces taxes on the ultra wealthy and forces the rest of us to pay for it.
You have a duty to hold our president accountable, and if you can't, then you deny him what he wants. Instead of enabling him, make him break more laws and ignore court orders to get what he wants.
Under normal circumstances, I would say avoiding a government shutdown is a good thing. We are not living in normal times. There is absolutely no guarantee that the president will allocate funds as they were intended to be spent and we cannot afford to endorse any kind of deal
We got babies!!!
I've been thinking about raising chickens again for a while. The price of eggs just pushed me over the edge.
