i got through the first ending of Silent Hill and started New Game+ very confident that I wasn't going to be scared... and was very wrong. I think the beginning of the game is just really scary

SenLinYu published the first installment of Manacled a month after JKR's "middle age moment." Even I wasn't fully convinced at that time that JKR didn't just like the tweet accidentally or not understand it, etc, so I don't really think much of them writing it in the first place

I think my parents got me the guide because they couldn't afford the actual game for a while! Plus I didn't really have any friends that played video games, so I was just in my own little bubble.

my parents bought me the player's guide to Pokemon Red/Blue significantly before I actually got the game, so I studied exactly how to play the game before I ever got my hands on it

you know, I wonder if the reason I'm so impatient with figuring stuff out in games is partly because I used player's guides so much as a kid. It made the challenge of video games more about execution rather than "figuring out" how to progress
