WOW!! All of a sudden it feels like every customer in Lithgow popped into our tech shop all at once!
That moment we are running out of space for all the repair units ... We must be doing something right.
As a business owner its hard ... Trying to do the right thing for the customers at the same time keep your doors open. Trying to find the balance of being helpful and charging what you are worth can be hard.
Masons Law : " The Second technician will always consider the first to be an idiot no matter how experienced the first tech is in comparison"
Talking with a customer about what kind of computer they want. They seem shocked that I am not trying to oversell them something they do not need.

Honestly there is not a lot of markup on computers.. would rather have a happy customer. #geek #gamingPC
I wish I had more time to mess with the scammers, but I am so busy with actual repairs ..

Nextime I will conduct the entire phone call as the Chief from the Muppets.

See scammers do not need to know how to hack because the try to trick you to open the door for them. This is why I tell my students "The Fear of clicking the wrong button is worse then actually clicking the wrong button"
Me : Kali Linux with a full offensive suite.

Scammer : Is that Windows 10?

Me : Yeah sure.......

Scammer : Ok I want you to install Anydesk ... open your web browser and ...

Me : ok is the command for that sudo apt-get install ..

Scammer : no its H T T P :
Tones of scam calls lately.

So just to let you know most scam callers do not know anything about cybersecurity.

Scammer : We are calling from tech support you have a virus on your network.

Me : Oh that sounds bad.

Scammer : What kind of computer are you running?
The hardest part of teaching seniors how to use computers is they are very dedicated to being "Not tech Savvy". Almost like it is their religion.

While there is nothing wrong with that ... except I am the one they are paying to get them past that concept.
That moment when you have a client who thinks their last tech guy hacked them because they used their phone while they upgraded them to windows 11 ...

No they were just checking Facebook.

Conspiracy theorists always have the worst passwords for people afraid of their own shadow.
I think the hardest part of fixing iPad screens is all the broken glass. It takes forever to get it all cleaned up. It's those tiny bits that still have some adhesive that seem to attach themselves to the hard to reach places.

Oh I can clean them up! it just takes time.
Fun day today! Had a great conversation with a customer about their new gaming computer. This design will be fun.
First weekend off in a very long time ... it was nice to spend the entire weekend doing not much of anything!

Now I need to g et some work done at the shop! Starting with trying to drum up business!

I feel silly but it is a lot of fun! Yes the boss should dance around in a Mobile Phone Costume!
This week has been busy! I actually feel like we are doing something right!
it’s about creating something yours.

Ever notice how building a gaming PC is kinda like levelling up your character?
You start with the basics (CPU + RAM), grind through specs and part-picking, face the Boss Fight that is cable management, and finally… bask in the glow of RGB victory.
It’s not just about performance—
Hey folks be careful out there we have noted a lot of scams lately.
Hopefully next week we can start focusing on building some gaming computers!
So we are finally moved into our new shop! Now comes the unpacking! At the moment it always seems to look like we do not have enough space ... until you put away all the harddrives ... then there is a little more space.
I have been lucky that the staff are working their tails off to help with the areas that I can't. If all goes well we will have the shop functional by Tue or Wed.
The move is going slow!
We just got the network set up.. so tomorrow I will set up the servers and the "Help desk"

It's slow mostly because I am the one person who works full time and have the least "Handy skills". This is what happens when you don't own any power tools.
The problem with setting up a computer shop is there is a lot of stuff we need to set up first

Network
Power
ESD repair spaces
Security cameras
Servers , intranet etc
Moving to the new shop gives us a chance to set up things right the first time. The last location had been there for 13 years and as much as we liked it there was a lot of things we could not change.
Though it does seem that our luck with good landlords is now a streak! We liked the last two as well
