Wonderful.

Prof Garton Ash renowned historian & political writer

We talk a lot about strategies keeping anti-liberal, nationalist populists out of power. Trump’s daily wielding of a wrecking ball shows that it’s equally important to reinforce your democracy so it can withstand a period of populists in power
My guide to populist-proofing your democracy – before it’s too late | Timothy Garton Ash
From public service broadcasting to an independent judiciary, these are the things that we must fight to keep, says Guardian columnist Timothy Garton Ash

The consultation on the proposal is still not finalised but I have heard from a number of constituents that family members have been already asked to make arrangements to leave.

What a difference.

When they come for one minority, they come for us all. Whether it’s Muslims, Jews, asylum seekers, migrants, the LGBTQI community or women. We must stand in solidarity.

There needs to be zero tolerance for all hate and division
Christiane Amanpour, "Antisemitism is a major problem. How do you navigate that?"

Zack Polanski, "I think it is a powerful message to have a Jewish leader and a Muslim deputy leader"

"Antisemitism and Islamophobia are two sides of the same coin"

"And the best response to hatred is solidarity"

We certainly aren’t all like this, but it’s no wonder Brits have a terrible reputation when abroad.

The exceptionalism and ignorance is enraging
What an embarrassment!

Literally portraying anti immigrant views in another country

The irony of doing this in Benidorm, Soain. Where the fully-fledged cultural takeover led by British holidayera & immigrants over the last few decades has rendered the town unrecognisable from its previous form
Beyond parody! Brits in Benidorm wave anti-immigration banners during parade

I cannot believe UK Labour are floating this. It’s utterly abhorrent. The depths they are willing to sink to is sickening

A centre left, progressive party does not act like this.

They are morphing like the Tories did into something grotesque to appease the unappeasable
Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

We seem engulfed by a kind of hysterical need; an obsession to push every question to its extremes. Nuance has not simply faded; it has been drowned out by a full-throated embrace of “black & white” thinking, often without even the faintest consideration of the bigger picture
