I'm reminded of my favourite quote from the Mass Effect series:

"It's so much easier to view the world in black and white. Gray? I don't know what to do with gray."

It's something I paraphrase very often when discussing this very topic, because it's crucial to acknowledge the complexity of gray.

Yeah, it's concerning how easily that one phrase can cover so much and leave so many uncertainties. You never know if it's "good" common sense (standing up to bigotry etc.) or "bad" common sense (enacting policies that harm minorities while helping those who don't need help etc.).

What a world.
