An October rose, still flowering in Wisley’s Hilltop Wellbeing garden for #roseWednesday 🌱
Today it is lunch with “Craft” friends. We first met online but started meeting in person about every six weeks years and years ago.
A rich red, fully double rose in autumn sunshine.

I think Saint Anthony had a role in that! Congratulations.

🌱 #thicktrunkTuesday. One of the mighty fine trees at Painshill Park. It’s such a special place and so close, I need to spend more time there.
This morning is our monthly Tour Guide training with Jonathan and we will be looking at some of the trees on Wisley’s Battleston Hill.
A gnarled and lumpy trunk of an Oak surrounded by young trees with lawn in the background.

My first book RHS Fungi for Gardeners is out now!
Such an amazing opportunity to write for RHS and with such fantastic publishers as DK.
Better yet is that doing it enabled me to get my own compound microscope 🤩🍄
Check how the hyphae bend out at 90° on Mycena leptocephala stems

@labcorp.bsky.social I have tried to reach out to you about someone using my email address address to sign up for your services. Today I received an email from you about test results but it’s not meant for me. I am in the UK. Can you help?

After the disappointment of Wisley’s Fungus Day being cancelled by Storm Amy, yesterday I had the privilege of doing a Fungus walk with Liz, the Principal Plant Pathologist for the RHS. It was so interesting and informative. These are just a few we spotted. 🌱 #mushroomMonday #fungusfriends
A collage of four photos from yesterday’s walk. The first is a cluster of sulphur tufts, the second an innocuous looking but toxic Deathcap, the third a Fly Agaric, also toxic and the fourth Coral fungi looking as though it belongs in the sea.

Very sad and a good lesson that life is fleeting. Make the most of it.

That made me laugh, sorry! I have someone in Utah who signs up for organisations using my email address. When I tell them it’s not me and I am in the UK they are very confused.

🌱 One of the joys of autumn, the glorious golden Liriodendron leaves for #SundayYellow. I’m off to Wisley’s Hilltop for a morning of volunteering. I think we might be busy because it’s the special event, from Plot to Plate celebrating growing your own.
Unusual shaped leaves of the Tulip Tree that have turned golden yellow.

I just did mine for the first time since May. Good to see it green.

🌱 #sixonSaturday from my tiny garden. There is still come colour to cheer up grey days and I am making the most of it.
A collage of six photos from my tiny garden. The two larger pictures are an orange Dahlia and the last flowers of Rosa Biddulph Grange. The small pictures are buds (and one open flower) of Lagerstroemia or Crepe Myrtle, purple Linaria flowers, a white Japanese Anemone and the tiny but highly scented white flowers of Osmanthus. Some people find Japanese Anemones easy to grow but this is the single flower of a plant that has been in my garden for years!

Such a special man and a special place. Oh and Walthamstow market is fabulous for fabrics and haberdashery. I better organise a visit!

🌱 #foliageFriday. It’s turning out to be a spectacular autumn with blazing colours everywhere. I shall be spending this morning with my Bestie at Painshill Park so will be looking for more autumnal colours.
Autumn colours of red, orange and yellow have turned this Rhus foliage into something special.
