I’ll be ordering!
What are some Elementary Library “classics”? Using quotes b/c I’m looking for the books that all good elementary libraries MUST have, but aren’t necessarily considered the traditional classics. Ex: No David by David Shannon.
The struggle is real! If you are so inclined, please visit my wishlist. Thank you!
I was there - excellent turnout!
Can you share what they are making - I think with clay?
Wow, that sounds so amazing! And I love the celebration photo. I work in an elementary school only starting to have some English language learners enrolled, but my hope is to incorporate more SEL practices into the library. You are an inspiration!
Yes!!! Love it. Unfortunately my protest will be in the rain, so I got some all-weather flags to hold. Not nearly as clever, but will have to do.
Oooh, that’s a good point - not everyone will be able to attend each time. So better to have too many. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Rachel, I’m an elementary school librarian and I really want to start a SLAT. I see you are in MS, but wonder if you could share how you decided who would be on the Team?
#SchoolLibrarians - do you send out end of the year surveys to staff? What kinds of questions do you include? I know it is important to get feedback, but why does it always make me feel bashful? #survey #schoollibrary #feedback #googleforms
SLAC or SLAB
Any *elementary* librarians here who started a Student Library Advisory Committee/Board?
Looking for highlights, advice, anything! (Pic for attention)

Dennis, what year(s)? I went there for undergrad too - ‘99.
5th graders used @armakerofficial.bsky.social to create their own coral reef.
In preparation for our visit w/ @katemessner.com , we have been using #augmentedreality to create our own “Brilliant Deep.”

#QuiverVision and @armakerofficial.bsky.social were big hits!
Totally agree, and besides, sometimes you feel like reading Henry James, other times it’s Danielle Steele. Why can’t children have the same autonomy?
3 - Final) Building in 5 minutes for them to “meow” nonstop and get it out of their system helps them to then buckle down and work.
PS: Teachers: our superpowers include not being bothered by noise, right?
Volume ⬆️, but not too ⬆️
2) Students had the serious task of coding a Black History Muswum in @brainpop.bsky.social , and (unfortunately) one of the sounds available is a meow!
1) One of the most important parts of #classroommanagemet is building in time for silliness.
I am sorry for your tough anniversary, but I think it’s wonderful how you crafted some joy for yourself and your students.
I find that one of the best parts of being a school librarian - that no one really talks about - is the proximity to laughter and joy we have every day with these children.
Ah, THE BEST! I love it when, before reading it, a couple of kids will pout over the whole no pictures thing. Makes winning them over even sweeter!
Can you please share more about this? I’m always interested making books more accessible for little children. I’d love to know more!
You are so very brave! Thank you for standing up for yourself and librarians everywhere.
