You just know David Brooks thought he was really saying something when he wrote that NYT column. I guess I wouldn't want anyone to read the E emails either if JE called me a "pseudo-intellectual" in them. Or if I repeatedly worked on projects with his friends.

Interesting that Dmitriev thinks the Russian position on Ukraine is being heard. Wonder what's happened in the past week to suddenly give the Russians leverage again. /s

I'm seeing a lot of people predicting a scrubbing vs. ongoing investigation. And if that proves to be the case, then we need to split it up and work on it like a 1970s newsroom. Because there's no way they'll do it flawlessly or even competently.

Re: the docs. I'd like to see journalists dig more into Tigran the model scout, who worked for both T and E. There's also an unrelated email that uses idiot-code ("11" as in "she'11"). Might be worth checking for other instances of intentional substitution. Also, ew to all of it.

I gotta think the move for Boebert is to claim traffic and show up at 4:15. She's damned either way.

If only my senators believed in America as much as I do...

I literally cannot process speech this fast. Props to SCOTUS if they can. Based on the skepticism of the justices alone, I think we can pretty much say "just hang on a little longer" to small businesses.

For the sake of my blood pressure, I'm gonna need the NYT to stop doing man on the street interviews with voters.

I can't even with the Bluebook 22nd. Law, Law as first word, Lawyer=different abbreviations. 18.2.2(c)=timestamps should be provided in 24-hour clock format with a time zone designation. There's an actual DST instruction. Seriously, get bent. Glad you made law review; maybe try a library course.

I get that people think chicken pox is no big deal (I had them in my throat and ears y'all), but is there really a Bring Back Tetanus contingent?

Students used to lie about why they were absent. Now, I'm just getting emails that say things like, "I wasn't feeling it today." I'm honestly kind of missing the third dead grandfather.

My entire class watched the close-up footage last Wednesday on TikTok. Every single one. The kids may be okay, but are they going to be okay?

God, I just want to go back to bed. Where do y'all find the energy?

Some opinions, lightly subtweeting. I do not agree that immigration is a "problem." We have the resources to welcome people into this country safely. I don't agree that trans children in sports are a "problem." .02% of people will ever play a professional sport. Your child is going to be a washout.

All is apparently "well." I was religious-ing and then wine-ing and then asleep, so I missed all of it. For the record, Dave is one of my favorite movies.

Journalists who write articles about state bills/laws and never mention the titles or citations deserve all the multifactor authentication loops Microsoft can muster. Imagine thinking you're an influential reporter but never envisioning you'll be read by people in the future.

This is the most obvious subtweet: Even if an LLM *were* capable of developing a mind, of being human, why would we want that? There are billions of humans already here. It might be nice to spend some money on their potential. But that doesn't mint money for the elite and get techbros excited.

I continue to be on vacation--otherwise known as filling in footnotes like "cite case that proves this" while in a foreign country. Today there was a massive far-right march outside. The poison is everywhere. Different languages, same lies. Anti-vax and Russian flags. I'm running low on hope.

I am on vacation abroad where, as we all know, we relax and disconnect by editing and footnoting papers for faculty. The web version of Word is actually getting worse. A thing I did not think was possible. Once, it was just the inability to do small caps. We've progressed to bizarre autoformatting.

If I could pick one nonstructural thing to nix in politics, it would be the weird parasocial relationships people (on both sides) have been forming with politicians. Politics takes a certain kind of personality--extroverted, approval-driven, overly confident. Most of these people are absolute dicks.

As a newly minted Old, I just wanted to say that the adjustment to progressive lenses could be going better. I had a 1L try to show me stuff on his computer and I spent 45 minutes pretending I could read it.

I don't think you should work after a red-eye. My best actually isn't good enough.

So, my post-AALL thoughts on AI. 1) We gotta start talking about other stuff. 2) The answer to why librarians over AI is more than info accuracy and ethics. Our humanity matters! I can tell you that your question is mis-framed or that I've spotted a trend in the research.

Some people to to conferences for the swag or the bar crawls. I go to spend my nights with pizza, wine, and SVU marathons. Being basic is underrated.

Update to my earlier post: I'm basically an extra from TWD right now. Thanks AA. Always a pleasure. But at least I wasn't in the rows that got thrown up on.
