The conclusion to the Mistborn Trilogy starts slowly and gets close to boring. Then it speeds up, all the mysteries are solved and for once a Trilogy is properly finished.

I found the ending too transcendental (think of Lost without the terrible final episode)

Larsson portrays a Sweden which is really different from that of Henning Mankell. Russian defectors, secret security apparatus, test of democracy and journalism in modern Sweden.

Really a treat! It's a pity that there will be no more books by the deceased Larsson.

Stieg Larsson's style is very much unlike Henning Mankell in the characters he has created. This is a much less sombre view of Sweden, rather a view that looks at Sweden as a modern, industrialized country with its share of violent crimes and its history of Nazism.

A divorced woman having difficulty to admit that she has lost her husband... A babysitter that has disappeared... A psychiatrist that seems to be too involved with his patient... All these are somewhat complex characters that interact in this depressive novel.

In The Dante Club, Pearl takes on the events around a literary club which started with Dante's La Divina Comedia and folded into grisly murders that seem to copy Dante's punishments in L'Inferno. It is a pretty enthralling book and I enjoyed reading it a lot.
