I will ask for details, but they said they were from ACLU!
Sorry I don’t understand how giving folks the literal doc that our entire country is founded on is indoctrination, but I knew some chud would be in my mentions claiming so.
America is built on the Constitution. If providing that document is dangerous to your reign of terror, that is a YOU problem.
my parents are incredible because kids come to our neighborhood to trick or treat from all over brooklyn so they gave out tons of candy AND a pocket copy of the US Constitution to everyone

(shoutout @aclu.org)

I have so much work to do this weekend but I also need sleep so badly (as the queen of sleep disorders). Idk what to do!
Apparently they are adding “rude” labels on this site to accounts??? Me next!!!!
Robber baron simulations to explain vertical and horizontal integration ABSOLUTELY KILLED TODAY!!!

(trying to hold on to this feeling of being invincible and brilliant before getting back in the lesson planning trenches)
(Also I know this is a professional account with my government name, but fuck Columbus)
On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Taíno and their diaspora descendants will be accepting reparations from both the Spanish government AND the US Bureau of Indian Affairs.

(y’all can just DM for our venmo/paypal)

Tomorrow is Archaeology Day at Grave Creek Mound (Moundsville, WV) so come say hi!
Kids turned in a multi-day project today (a lot will come in tomorrow morning late but I’m not pressed about it), and the mini posters look SO GOOD!!!
Getting observed again tomorrow, and we are starting a multi-day project. Nervous I’m gonna flub but I have tonight to organize and update the project instructions with feedback from mentor teacher.
Man it’s been like two minutes and I need to schedule another student teaching observation. I need the weeks to go even faster, honestly.
Today was all about Ghost Dance and Wounded Knee, and I was observed for the first time by my university supervisor. He literally could not have picked a heavier day for this entire unit.
This is so kind so I’m retweeting it because it’s gonna inflate my huge Latina skull!!!!
I have this image of dozens and dozens of lightbulbs going off at all times within your classroom now.
Today was the Dawes Act compared to Homestead Act, and I asked them to think back to Treaty of Fort Laramie and Little Bighorn for further context.
So I have been teaching a unit on Westward Expansion (ew) with a special focus of Indigenous points of view and deconstructing American policies through primary sources, and the kids are constantly like WHAT? THAT’S F’ED UP. Yes, my precious tadpoles, it is.
That doesn’t make it good, but it makes it a fundamental facet of sociopolitical change in this country, and the constant rhetoric that normalizes hate and violence has reached a natural conclusion.
I need my British friends to stop pearl clutching about American leftist responses because 1, he was an evil man, and 2, the American legacy of violence in politics is a direct result of British colonization going back to 1607 Jamestown.

I actually think we really do need to draw a line in the sand here because if you feel so compelled to eulogise and mourn someone who was literally a white supremacist and fascist by all definitions of those words, maybe we should just consider you a white suprematicist and fascist too.
Today was difficult because I had to talk about part of my 9/11 experience, but the students seemed to genuinely realize why it is important to tell these stories and have a safe place to ask questions.
They have to make a case with evidence from our historical thinking skills that we started the year with, so I hope they realize the evidence is not pointing to that, but alas we shall see.
Today was a lesson I wrote on residential schools and it’s really good that the students understood immediately the gravity of the situation. They were enraged and had never heard of them! For homework, they are making a case for it being genocide (or not) ((but we all know it is genocide)).
