The way out is “not to ensure every citizen employs optimal epistemic practices, but to weaken their social identification with cranks and conspiracy theorists, and strengthen their identification with the broadly reliable collective practices of science, scholarship, journalism, law, and so on.”
Misinformation *is* central to democratic problems today, but the solution is *not* to correct such epistemic failures directly. Instead, we must address them at their roots, in social identity.

Zanders precīzi norāda uz vietējo konservatīvo ideju sasaisti ar ASV, jo tas ir par globāliem, ne tikai vietējiem procesiem. Tādēļ noteikts uzsvars ārzemju medijos par Latviju kā "atkritušu" no progresa tomēr ir arī par viņu aizspriedumiem, ne nopietnu analīzi.

50k ir līdzšinējais rekords, un noteikti ne tik īsā laika sprīdī savākts. “ManaBalss” ieiet jaunā fāzē Latvijas demokrātijas vēsturē. Bet tas nav arī pārsteigums - jau kādu laiku tā ir veidojusies par politiskās identitātes stūrakmeni LV. Arī globāli unikāli - grassroots uzturēta.
Tas, ka pilsoniskā sabiedrība šobrīd atrodas ķīlnieka pozīcijā pret Saeimas vairākumu tomēr apliecina akūtu vajadzību pēc daudz plašākas iedzīvotāju iesaistīšanās partijās un pārstāvnieciskā politikā. Turklāt visi jaunie politiskie spēki, kad parādās, tikai attīsta pašreizējo populisma virzienu.

Tas, ka pilsoniskā sabiedrība šobrīd atrodas ķīlnieka pozīcijā pret Saeimas vairākumu tomēr apliecina akūtu vajadzību pēc daudz plašākas iedzīvotāju iesaistīšanās partijās un pārstāvnieciskā politikā. Turklāt visi jaunie politiskie spēki, kad parādās, tikai attīsta pašreizējo populisma virzienu.
5000 cilvēku!!! Šim jabūt vienam no lielākajiem protestiem kopš neatkarības atjaunošanas. 13. janvāra protestos 2009. gadā bija 10k, un tie ir bijuši līdz šim lielākie.

Jauniem pētniekiem sochum jomā gandrīz nav iespēju atgriezties Latvijā no ārzemēm - ka būtu mans gadījums pēc gadiem EE un SE. Katrā ziņā vismaz pēcdokturanturas programma to vairs neatbalsta - kam ir bijuši lieliski rezultāti, piemēram, LKA.

Manam pēcdokt. projektam par “ManaBalss” vairs gandrīz nebija izredžu pēc spec. koeficientiem, kas ņem nost punktus par fundamentālo zinātni un produkta trūkumu. Un tas ir jau pēc visiem MK noteikumiem, kas ierobežoja sochum un privilēģē finansējumu rūpnieciskiem pētījumiem.
Tieši tā!!! Žurnālu skaits ir sīkums, ja valsts apzināti iznīcina humsoc jomu pētniecību (sk., piem., postdoktorantūras programmu, kurā humsoc pētnieki nedrīkst pieteikties (ar atsevišķiem izņēmumiem)).

Nesaprotu, kāpēc KNAB atbildībā pēkšņi ietilpst publiskie mediji? Pat ja Re:Baltica saņemtu valsts finansējumu, mediju kontrole nav valsts iestāžu, bet pašas jomas ekspertu un sabiedrības uzraudzībā. Tas ir par robežu nospraušanu, nevis atsevišķu iestāžu kontroli “sabiedrības vārdā”.

Nesaprotu, kāpēc KNAB atbildībā pēkšņi ietilpst publiskie mediji? Pat ja Re:Baltica saņemtu valsts finansējumu, mediju kontrole nav valsts iestāžu, bet pašas jomas ekspertu un sabiedrības uzraudzībā. Tas ir par robežu nospraušanu, nevis atsevišķu iestāžu kontroli “sabiedrības vārdā”.

Laba intervija! Par starpkaru demokrātiju joprojām trūkst niansētākas diskusijas nekā tikai pretnostatījums starp krīzi un autoritāro režīmu. Gan kļūdas, gan veiksmes - viss ir nenovērtējama pieredze, caur ko palūkoties citām acīm uz šodienas valsts procesiem.
Pēdējas dienas lasu Oksanas Zabužko “Planēta vērmele” - dinamīts, ar ko viņa ved cauri laikiem un (post)padomiskajai cīņai par savu nacionālo es ārpus “centra”. Šeit viņa par bezgožu kultūru, kas definē kaut ko ļoti centrālu par uzvarošo politisko morāli šobrīd.

And in the latest ratings just now, his party scores the second biggest. It’s certainly too early to make a call, but perhaps something is brewing, along with the skyrocketing inflation.
Interesting, an immediate EU level approach. Latvia’s leading populist politician Šlesers recently very much praised TikTok as the only place for having ”real” information to his followers. Could there be a result to this in few years, next election?

This appears to be the most meaningful and impactful grassroots action of the moment. It is hitting where it counts - amazing for (decentralised) organisers and global community.

Current American foreign policy is about draining power from the US and its allies, thereby creating atmospherics in which Donald Trump feels good and Elon Musk converts lost state capacity into personal profit. The weakness, in other words, is the point.

Pat ja mēs pieņemam, ka Latvijas un Baltijas politiķu uztājībai, ka Tramps nepiekāpsies Putinam ir kāds pamats - kādi ir varianti B un C, ja runa vairs nav par piekāpšanos, bet par dziļu un sirsnīgu sadarbību divu autoritāru režīmu starpā?
