Inspired by my Christmas films thread from last year - here are all the films I’ve seen at the cinema this year, with the thrill of marks out of 10 for each of them. #2025movies
Are they angling for Akram to buy the farm? He’s a dab hand at milking, Khalil is an animal dude, just occurred to me when listening. Either that or Akram is just the new Leonard who can do basically anything.
They will always frame it as the rights they want to take away from ‘other people’ but of course it will be rights taken away from all of us.
I don’t see the moralising and stuff being a thing. I think the phrase they use is culturally Christian, none of them are going to church on a Sunday.
It’s odd - I can see why the racist, misogynist, anti-immigrant type stuff lands in the UK and can come from the US, but I don’t see the moralistic, Christian thing ever being a factor.
There is only one way this Supreme Court goes at this time.
He could give all the Grundy’s a bunch of splinters
The aim seems to be to find the level of racism that can placate the British public and make Farage and Reform seem just a bit too racist for that.
I think I’d probably expect to end up with both existing. We all end up with our whole lives on our phones, so that will work for money, but a card should go alongside it, even if just as an option/alternative.
I have an NHS number, a passport, a driving licence, a national insurance number, council tax account to pay for a green bin, voter registration and more I am sure. Before starting a new job I have to prove I can work in the UK or that I am from here. A card that cuts down any of that is great!
Burnham has been rejected twice as leader, and is just an opportunistic wind sock, not a leader. Even now, he’s just positioning himself for some point in the future.
The Long Walk - 9/10. This film surpassed all expectations, a truly horrible premise that really doesn’t feel far from a real potential dystopian future and what was expected to be gruelling turned out to be a film that only improved as it progressed. #thelongwalk #2025movies

Weapons - 6/10. Very odd, uneven mystery horror with an intriguing set up, good performances, interesting central puzzle and then a somewhat bizarre resolution to it all. #weapons #2025movies

I saw a trailer for One Battle After Another and thought it might be a relatively fun action/drama type film, just looked on Cineworld for the release date and saw it is 2hr 42mins long. Do people making movies not understand how insane that is? Maybe I’ll be wrong and it’s an epic masterpiece.
It’s just such a shock to see a left wing party fall into a complete mess full of disorganisation, splitting, committees and factional fall outs. Before they’ve even managed to settle in a name.
Is it possible that they are just getting things ever so slightly out of proportion?
I’m sure this has been covered but how exactly do we explain to the American president that we have sacked the ambassador for being embroiled in a scandal that the president himself is embroiled in?
He’ll be fine if he just sticks a big man up top and gets pace on either wing
I’ve seen them try this ‘free speech’ argument a couple of times. It’s nonsense, or were they also platforming Remain voters who are pro-immigration?They platformed a known conspiracy theorist crank at their conference and he said something both despicable and about someone’s personal medical health
I’ll give it a listen during the course of the week, but, out of interest, what did you change your mind on?
I’m not sure ‘FBI informant’ is a label that Trump’s supporters will like.
I may have said before on here, but every time someone says they want to leave it, I would ask them which human right THEY want to give up. Farage had a meltdown over getting dumped by a bank.
