SQL Server geek, college football and basketball fan, and my happy place is Shem Creek in Charleston, SC. Also, I became a cat person at some point. They won me over with their cuteness.

Just submitted to the Nebraska.Code()2026 event on sessionize. I made my first submission for a full day pre-con.

Will be presenting in around a month at #DataSaturdayMadrid 2025. The topic is the Columnstore and I will do my best to deliver the session in Spanish

I am excited to be speaking at SQL Saturday Saint Louis tomorrow. This will be my third SQL Saturday this year. I still have 3 more speaking engagements before the end of the year.

Presenting sharpens knowledge, creates new colleagues, and, of course, can help attendees learn something new.
Starting at the basics is always advisable. It can keep us from overcomplicating an issue and missing an easy fix.
I can relate. Lost my dad in May 2005 to lung cancer that had spread. I'm glad that the loss is getting easier to deal with.
This is a big challenge for many people @timweigel.bsky.social . Trying to figure this out myself. Part of it for me is reminding myself to focus on what I have control over and what I don't as a means of coping with feeling overwhelmed.
Not the circumstances you were hoping for when you got home, but you were there to help your mom, and that's a good thing.
Having an easier time getting home than getting to Boston. I'm glad for that. One more flight and a short drive, and then I'll be home again in thenlate afternoon.

It was great being at #sqlsatboston.
Waiting for luggage and then over to my car rental. Google Maps sats it's about an hour drive out to Burlington.

Looking forward to getting dinner and settling into the hotel tonight. Also, I have to bring home a piece of Boston to the Mrs!
On the ground in Boston. Now to decide whether to drive myself or get a cab to get out to Burlington. Goodle says a 19 mile drive is 50-57 minutes.
What would you want to see changed in LibreOffice?
I made the first leg of my newly booked trip. I'm in Chicago, but just got notice of a 1 hour departure delay. Not sure the cause yet. So, fun times! Hoping to still make it to the speaker dinner tonight.
Ok. Thanks for that. I made the first leg of my newly booked trip. I'm in Chicago, but just got notice of a 1 hour departure delay. Not sure the cause yet. So, fun times! Hoping to still make it to the speaker dinner tonight.
On my way to #sqlsatboston ! Already through security at Saint Louis. Going to Chicago Midway, then I'm shipping up to Boston.
Yep! My wife suggested the same, so I did that as well.

Is weather around the Boston airport often an issue that delays flights?
Had the flight changed to tomorrow morning, and I'm just eating the cost of the night of hotel and car rental that I won't actually be making use of. Fun times!
Well, it changed again, back to an even later departure. I am starting to wonder if I should try to leave Friday morning early and scrap being at Brent O's pre-con. If this flight time holds, I won't land until almost midnight. It will be 1 or 130am before I get to bed for an event that starts @8am.
Well, looks like I'll be getting to Boston for #sqlsatboston quite late. My flight is delayed almost 5 hours. They are saying it is due to weather in Boston later today. No flights yo switch to the day of. 😞

Bummer. Sorry to hear that, especially given that repair tends to be expensive.
Sometimes, it seems people are using the lowest common denominator for language and not using the specific words that are designed to convey the thing they mean.
