Both sides of my family left Catholicism when my grandparents were young, roughly 100 years ago, give or take. But I swear my upbringing and life was/is still so ruled by guilt. I'm determined to not do this to my kid.

I'm approaching the 2 year anniversary of leaving what I thought was my dream career. I'm far more at peace (and making more money) than I was as a tenured professor. I do miss the sense of having a purpose but that will come eventually, I think.
