Eventually I'll add a lot of really fine crosshatching to give the whole thing a 'drawn' but also 'fabric' sort of texture, as pictured. Its experimental (read as 'winging it to see what happens).

Then as I add sepias and browns elsewhere I add more shade to the top edge and into the grooves. The trick is to be quite patchy so the pale undercoat shows through like threadbare cloth. Then tiny highlights of any light colour like bone dotted around. There might be more sepia and shading to add.

I'm undecided (as in still researching) if it is intended at source to be straight modern anti-eastern propaganda or an attack on how that sort of xenophobic frothing is made, whether film and comic diverge in intent or not and the like, especially given when it was made etc.
