A must read. And what I have been shouting into the wind. The punishment for drug smuggling is not death. It’s prison. But we are a bloodthirsty, vengeful, gun-loving country. Makes me want to weep.

Such a baffling and horrible man.
To be very clear, Kennedy's team is messing with a vaccine which has led to a 99 percent drop in the incidence of hepatitis B, which kills, early and painfully, 25 percent of the people who get it as children. lnk.thebulwark.com/3Xt957M

“Since Sept. 2, the administration has announced 21 such attacks in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean that have killed 83 people.” 83 people who at most would have received jail time. Or a presidential #pardon if recent events are a guide. Horrendous.

So, I left for the airport at 9:30 am local time yesterday. My flight was 3 hours late so had to spend the night in an airport hotel. It is now 8:30pm today local time from whence I left. On the shuttle so “only” 90 more travel minutes to go. Going to break 36 hours!

Every day, in every way, I am reminded that perhaps being out of the professorial circuit was not such a bad career move... @sepoltuario.bsky.social
If you have to get permission to teach in your area of expertise from people who are definitionally not qualified to adjudicate your expertise then you are no longer working at a university.

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.
