Tune of the day…Duke Jordan - Starbright. Often for ballads guys would just record a standard rather than compose their own, but Duke loved Dizzy Reece’s tone on a ballad so he wrote this one. Notice how the repetitive old school comping actually brings out the melody. #jazzsky youtu.be/7qDl2ukcA1w
