The need for safe and responsible AI keeps on coming up, and rightly so... It's one of the reasons we've shifted our research in recent years to look at harder problems than we have before: low-resource languages, human-AI collaboration, and injecting formal expert knowledge into neural methods.
Congratulations to Rich Sutton and Andrew Barto on receiving the Turing Award in recognition of their significant contributions to ML. I also stand with them: Releasing models to the public without the right technical and societal safeguards is irresponsible.
