The lead prosecutor in the Eric Adams case has resigned over DOJ's order that the case be dismissed.

Except the law doesn't allow her to remove him in one fell swoop so starting the process will not risk a knee-jerk reaction. Ideally, suspend him, but regardless, serve charges & give him statutory opportunity to be heard in defense. Plenty of time to think, with more info, then.
Hochul said she saw the letter former US Attorney Danielle Sassoon sent, calling the allegations she made about Adams "extremely concerning and serious," but she can't have a "knee jerk, politically motivated reaction." She says she needs "some time to process this and figure out the right approach"
