This is the same argument pro-gun people make. "What if there is an emergency and I need to defend myself?". In reality you are much, much safer overall without the dangerous thing being easily accessible.

I actually wish I had this in my car because it would make it easier for me to stay within the limits. Easier than having to constantly make sure I am not creeping over.

'AI job losses' are not a thing.

Do you live in a service? Do you eat service?

Ultimately everything is material consumption. Services and finance are merely an abstraction from the material economy.

Outsourcing your manufacturing to another country doesn't matter because it's the same planet.

We're just meat to these people.

Reminder that as far as billionaires are concerned we are just meat. If people need to be seriously injured or die on the operating table to make the line go up then they consider that a price worth paying.
When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

As AI enters the operating room, reports arise of botched surgeries and misidentified body parts
Medical device makers have been rushing to add AI to their products. While proponents say the new technology will revolutionize medicine, regulators are receiving a rising number of claims of patient ...

What you are missing is the fact that this is enabled by misogyny. Epstein's circle views the female sex as objects for the amusement of men. In their eyes boys would be too close to being actual people.

The good news is population growth will top out around the middle of the century. The bad news is that the growth of the economy will mean we are using double the resources by then.

Given that degrowth is basically blasphemy amongst most world leaders I'm not holding out hope of avoiding a crisis.

Kind of want to see it because my brain is trying to figure out what surreal pornography looks like and I want to find out if any of my guesses are remotely on point.

Damn, Bezos was not particularly selective about the intelligence of the people he kept.

I think the dumbest thing about crypto is that it's a technological regression from fiat. We removed the artificial limit on money supply created by decoupling it from gold. Why would you want to go back to strangling the economy with finite money and artificially restricting credit?

Is it wrong to have hope that Labour Together can be purged or neutralised and a real Labour government can enact some meaningful action before the next GE? This seems very unlikely at this point but giving into despair on 2028 doesn't seem sensible.

There are already a couple of animated shows set in D&D lore so a live action show would be an obvious thing to make as a commercial venture. I'd be surprised if they weren't already planning at least one since I assume Amazon and Netflix like money.

Although don't get me wrong, there are more interesting readings of Christian mythology. Lucifer as a rebellion against authority is at least somewhat interesting.
February 8, 2026 at 11:49 AM
I feel like the popular characterisation of Satan is a lack of imagination in Christian mythology. Many other regions mythos don't have any clear villains because the people who made the stories understood that the true evil was in how one could treat your fellow humans.
