Your ability to pause and reflect is exactly what doing the work looks like. We’re not perfect and we learn and grow by listening pausing and reflecting.

There’s no one right way towards allyship. But as long as we are proactive and reflective then we are moving in the right direction.

Part of me wonders if this is her reclaiming her power given her position as being used as a very obvious piece of propaganda for the average white American rn.

Yes I agree. Unfortunately the culture and the algorithms would much rather us bicker about debatable microagressions dependent on context. It keeps us distracted and infighting. That’s the problem.

That’s why I think we need to stop defending her. It’s a distraction from real problems

As one of the most powerful white people in terms of popular culture … she does not need her fanbase of primarily white fans coming to her defence. If she has a problem with it she has the platform to address it.

This is where I’m at. I believe a lot of the context of the songs leads to these discussions. But the context ppl are applying is from the prevailing public narrative. She can defend herself if she feels it’s important.

We do not have to agree, but we don’t have to defend her either.

The context is important. And I don’t think the context people are taking is necessarily the truth. However, it is the prevailing public narrative. And she’s aware of that.

We know when our brains tell us there's only one option, they're lying because they're stuck in fear mode. If you can tap into any creativity or curiosity about anything, that might help shift things a bit. Ex: get dressed like it's wacky tacky day, do your makeup, bake cookies, scribble out the sad
