When I was new to #wildlife and photography, I worried I'd never get to photograph #owls.

So I learned how to spot signs of owls and how to observe them from a distance, without stressing them out and causing them to fly away.

I've taken a lot of great blue heron photos, but this is still one of my favorites.

It was a cold day, and the heron's feathers were fluffed up, likely for insulation.

A double-crested cormorant.

My area gets a lot of these birds during the winter. In the early morning, they fly over the river from their overnight roosting spots to their daytime locations.

I used to think I wasn't very good at roasting turkeys because it never came out perfectly. Then I moved into a house with a decent oven and realized the problem wasn't me - it was the cheap ovens with inconsistent temperatures I'd been using.

I hate OneDrive.

I had it turned off because I don't want it. It suddenly turned itself on (maybe due to an update?) and proceeded to start uploading all my files.

It also combined files from two different laptops that I don't want combined. Now all my files are a mess.🤬

I complain about fall and winter a lot, but there are some things I like about the dark, cold months - like the dark eyed juncos that show up.

Kingfishers are known for flying away as soon as you try to take a photo, but this female belted kingfisher stayed put.

When she moved her wing, it looked like she was beckoning me to sit beside her.

Autumn and winter are... fine. They're fine.
