Another 2002 release I forgot was Lasse Marhaug and Kevin Drumm’s “Frozen By Blizzard Winds”. Its title and cover reference black metal. Its creators were both metal fans and guitarists (of sorts) who gravitated towards digital laptop noise. This is 00s minimal, abstract, ambient noise at its best.
