To make this specific map, I cropped in on the Iliac Bay and tweaked the heightmap and map scale, then used height-based masks for colors.

The Direnni Hegemony and its neighboring states, circa 1E 400. Names are mostly made up for vibes, though I did reference ESO when it made sense to do so.

Created with Gaea and Inkscape, with a little bit of color correction in Krita.

A map of north-western Tamriel, showing most of High Rock as well as part of northern Hammerfell. Its colored like a satellite image, with mountains in shaded relief. Lots of settlements are labeled.

I ask because I have no trouble creating a one-off guy for a story or picture, but how people create independent characters that they maintain and roleplay, sometimes for over a decade, is a magical mystery to me! I think it's cool and wanna learn.
