I found myself on the Aggie lawl website yesterday and their chatbot helper was Miss Rev - complete with picture. I appreciate the commitment to the bit, and am also glad that my university’s bulldog mascot isn’t the photo for our library chatbot.

I have seen a lot of episodes of guys grocery games, and one of my favorites is the moms vs dads episode where a dad puts fried chicken in fruit salad. (These are all professional chefs, which makes it even more amazing)

I don’t cook and I bake even less, but today I’ve made my latest attempt at recreating my mother’s rolls and my first-ever pound cake is in the oven. I don’t know if either will make it to the Thanksgiving offerings, but I’m feeling a little progress 😀

Woke up early to run a 5k(my first of the year, yikes!) and walked 2 miles there + 2 miles back. I felt really accomplished before 9am, and have done pretty much nothing since. Maybe a nice afternoon for a nap 😀

At lunch I sat next to a guy who kept adding ice to his coors light. I’ve never seen that before!

I love how random references to the DC sandwich guy pop up in the city. Spotted this on my way home from work today.

Today has ended up being a pretty good birthday! Saw some of my favorite people for drinks and hugs, met some new folks, got some good election news.

I have tickets to see Brandi Carlile in MSG with my cousins on Valentine’s Day and I’m so happy about this! It’s been a while since I’ve seen a show with other people. (Also have tickets to Isbell in Philly the next week, but that’s a solo show for me.)

Maybe someone has already highlighted this, but Nick Saban, Kalen DeBoer, Brian Kelly and Davi Swinney are all scorpios! And Brian Kelly and Bob Knight were born on the same day (October 25th). This is fascinating to me. #thanksfullcast

Something I just learned that really amuses me? There’s a Hilton garden inn in Paris. This seems so much more ludicrous than any being in NYC.

I’m ready to have a better picture of me in my inflatable unicorn suit. I want more reasons to a) wear it and b)deploy that photo. I know I will feel delighted and invincible until it ends.

I had a beach trip planned for next weekend; decided to move it to this weekend because I’m going to a funeral on that side of the bridge and it’s going to be difficult. Now, a nor’easter is in the forecast and I’m staying in an area likely to flood. Guess we’ll see how this goes!

I had a new coworker start last week, and we met today to talk about some areas where we might overlap. They’re a gamecock fan and when I asked “how are you feeling about clemson’s season so far?” we discovered that we might have fun non-work conversations in our future. Yay!

I’m trying to decide if I want to buy an inflatable giraffe costume and if so, how many times I could use it beyond Halloween.

I feel like I’m in some alternative college football universe right now (just saw the Penn State and Florida scores)

Decided to go to see the Terps play Washington this Saturday so that should be something.

Also, I continue to be amazed at people’s behavior. In this place with like 50 million tvs, a couple was seated at the bar watching something on their tablets.

Decided to re-acquaint myself with the big sports bar in the area and was rewarded with some lovely conversations with LSU fans.

I am feeling a little too seen when it comes to these pieces on dudes not having enough community in their lives. Moving around college towns is one thing, but being in a major metro area when you are nearing 50 is a different animal.

Hooray for afternoon baseball and the home team winning in the bottom of the 9th. #oriolesmagic

I decided to book a quick beach trip after the family reunion this weekend. I’m mostly looking forward to the crashing of the waves as a balm to my soul, but I also want to use more of the arcade credits I bought a while back to play some Skeeball.

I’m of an age where there’s a lot of stuff happening with older family members, so I’m re-familiarizing myself with the works of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. It hits a little differently than it did when I was 20.

I want desperately to be in my “don’t give a shit” era while also knowing i will never enter this era. It’s a challenge!

I am happy that my team won a game. I am not too happy with what I saw, nor with the final score, but I feel better about my submission to the phantom island survey. Apparently I am much more pessimistic than the rest of the Terp fan base, which totally tracks. Now I can enjoy Saturday.
