The opening line to the novel I'm writing:
"He was an odd sort of fellow, sitting alone at a table in an odd sort of place."

Always good to run into friends and former colleagues at the Kentucky Bar Association's Annual Convention. Former AOC Director Laurie Givens stopped to pose with me for our traditional impromptu photo.
On this Memorial Day, let us reflect upon the sacrifices made by those who "gave up their tomorrows for your todays." May our God grant them Eternal Peace, and may we take advantage of the opportunities we've been given to celebrate our Faith, our freedoms, our families, and our friendships.

The 80-year recipe stoking America’s Prosperity:

1) Free-market capital investments in brilliant ideas…
2) enabled by Engineering Innovations…
3) based on Science Research in Universities…
4) funded by Grants from the US Government.

It’s time more people understood this.
My #Preakness picks:

JOURNALISM is the cream of the field, should avenge his near-miss at the Kentucky Derby. RIVER THAMES has been on the board in two graded stakes races this Spring, and is second best. SANDMAN needs to return to his Arkansas Derby winning form after an unimpressive Ky Derby.

Networks must be more cautious when reporting Trump’s so-called “deals.” His announcements often follow a familiar, deceptive pattern: declare a major breakthrough, only for the details to later reveal that nothing has actually changed. 1/

Skeet shooting in the Pulaski Outdoorsmen Club Spring league. Pulled off a '25' during Week 2, but couldn't replicate it the following week.

JOURNALISM with 3 graded stakes wins, will be celebrated in the Winner's Circle if he clears in this crowded field. BURNHAM SQUARE came up to win the Bluegrass Stakes, and can cover this added distance. SOVEREIGNTY has 2 graded stakes wins, needs to rebound from a Florida Derby loss.

On this day, March 29th, in 1886, John Pemberton brewed the first batch of a non-alcholic wine alternative, later named Coca-Cola.
(National Have a Coke Day is celebrated annually on May 8th, the date in 1886 when Coca-Cola went on sale for the first time as a tonic during the temperance movement.)
Campbell was then appointed Confederate Assistant Secretary of War by President Jefferson Davis. He held that position through the end of the war.
Even though he had no previous judicial experience, he was nominated in 1853 and unanimously approved to serve on the nation's highest Court. Upon Lincoln's proclamation of a state of rebellion and the start of the Civil War, Campbell resigned from the Supreme Court.
Returning to Georgia, Campbell read law and was admitted to the bar in 1829, at the age of 18 (which required a special act of the Georgia legislature).
Considered a child prodigy, U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Archibald Campbell graduated from the University of Georgia at the age of 14, then studied at the United States Military Academy for three years, withdrawing upon his father's death.
Just finished #LongBrightRiver. Great acting, decent story (although they could've omitted some plot points). 78/100. 👍

I was hoping Kasey would have met her demise.
I just finished, gave it 77/100. A bit slow, but it allowed characters to develop. Some of the plot was a bit convoluted, and I didn't care much for the last Episode.
I just finished it. You might consider picking it back up. I think it peaked at Episode 7.

Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky sharply disagreed with a decision by Gov. Gavin Newsom of California to host Steve Bannon on Newsom’s new podcast this week, saying Bannon’s voice should not be elevated “on any platform ever, anywhere.”

“I don’t think we should give him oxygen on any platform — ever, anywhere,” the Democratic governor of Kentucky said of President Trump’s former chief strategist.

Glad to have brightened your day! (But you probably would've gotten a bigger chuckle if I had been a dentist named "Paine".)
