Found lots of moss today.
The dog and I haven’t adjusted to daylight savings yet.
Tully is checking out the massive Bull Thistle I dug up.
Hollyhocks handling the cold weather up north.
Enjoying the view this morning.
One of my favorite maples, I call it Witchy Woman. Happy Halloween!
Columnar white pine, my retirement gift last year from my work friends. Nice to have a bit of green in the fall and winter.
Box elder bug resting in a milkweed pod. Happy it’s there and not in the house.
Not much blooming in the suburban gardens but found a hyssop.
Collected thimbleweed seeds for the new native pollinator garden up north. Turning the driveway dumping spot into a garden that can be seen from the front porch and guest room.
Showing improvement, five more than last year. Black Cat variety left three, others unknown.
Dug up the dahlias and gladioli at the northern garden. Will dry and then store in paper bags for the winter.
Frosty morning. Took in the canna, elephant ear, gladiolus, and dahlia bulbs yesterday.
Common milkweed seed on Prairie Dropseed grass. No wonder the milkweed spreads easily.
It was wet and windy yesterday.
American hazelnut. Something ate the nuts already.
Time to move the terracotta garden friends to the garage since they are freeze babies. Potted up geraniums to overwinter too.
Rattlesnake Master seed heads in the morning sun.
Fall flowers. Dahlias, zinnias, feverfew, and dark viburnum leaves.
Ambush bug, new one for me. Small bug on a small flower by the driveway.
More fall colors. Sedum, goldenrod and dogbane. The trees are mostly still green, the only color is with the lower plants.
Pollinator garden update. Lots of seed heads for the birds.
Sneezeweed seed heads. Thinking I may try collecting a bunch of native seeds to make my own seed mix this year.
