I mean, the US and Israel might be our sorta allies but they aren't above scapegoating Muslims and violence against them either; but I wanted to point out that even from a campist standpoint Islam never appeared like a threat to me, rather a boogeyman our enemies use.

People are just racist.

Then I found out that Islamophobic rhetoric is used by Assad's regime in Syria, China with Uyghurs, Myanmar wirh Rohingya, and now RSF apparently despite being backed up UAE (who, while atrocious and Muslim, aren't Islamist in my book).

My cute from Islamophobia is the fact that I grew up in the environment where Russia used "Islamist terrorists" propaganda to justify atrocities against Crimean Tatars, Chechens, and Syrians. I also had no idea why would a Ukrainian person hate Muslims.

My faith in the American democracy died the day I learned about Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Island, and Northern Mariana as a teen.
