Recent OHO research says 60% of high school students are using AI to directly compare colleges. This has to be part of our SEO strategy, now. #EngageSummit

Pepper’s a big fan of professional development. (The fact that it’s perched above everything and facing a window is coincidence, I’m sure.)

Today I almost bought a car, decided I wasn’t comfortable committing to the terms, and walked away. I’ve honestly never felt more adult.

Here to confirm that Running Point with Kate Hudson is “put away second screen and actually pay attention” good.

The tornado siren goes off, and my cat immediately jumps on the headboard to poke her head through the curtains and look outside. A true midwesterner.

When I was in middle school, I was the only girl on my soccer team and in pre-hockey lessons, because they didn’t have girls teams and I also didn’t like softball. I would hope my niece can have the same opportunities when she’s older, but we live in a red state, so …
When I was a kid, I played on the boys baseball team. Because I wanted to, my parents supported it, and I truly didn’t like softball. I was hit by pitches more often than the average player (strange coincidence, I’m sure).

Wondering if that would be allowed in all states now…

Mike Johnson is such a generic white male republican that I have thought “oh that’s what he looks like” multiple times when seeing him on screen.

Because we need another obstacle in the financial aid process or creating access for underrepresented students.

High schoolers with undocumented parents are weighing whether it’s worth it to fill out the FAFSA. “It’s creating an additional barrier to keep brown kids out of college,” said Aidé Acosta, chief college officer for the Noble Schools charter network in Chicago. www.wbez.org/education/20...
Under Trump administration, some Chicago students think twice about FAFSA
If they submit the financial aid application, students risk outing their undocumented parents. But if they don't, they could lose out on the chance at college.

Why am I just now realizing the weight of responsibility of being the one to approve a new, significantly streamlined, information architecture for our entire website?

Pet peeve: the phrase “a fraction of” to mean very little. Saying something is a fraction of something else is meaningless. 1/100 and 99/100 are both fractions.

The value of having mentors and people you can rely on in the higher ed marcom community cannot be understated. Just a great group of supportive, encouraging people.

I was wondering how a random email got added to my bookmarks bar, then I remembered my cat walking across the keyboard as I was trying to respond. 🤦‍♀️

Finished tasking with about 20 minutes before my parents are supposed to arrive for 8 days. Did not complete everything on my list, but decided I’m ok with that (or at least trying to be). Let the holiday break commence! ⛄️🎄🕎🎊

Today I learned that I am far too type A to attempt to decorate a gingerbread house with a sub-par icing bag. Also, a cat that apparently loves the smell of gingerbread and gumdrops doesn’t help, either.

I love a cheesy Christmas movie, but we really don’t need a montage to remember everything that happened over two hours and why the couple we knew would end up together from their first scene did, in fact, overcome their third-act misunderstanding/pulling away and decide to be together.

I think I’m finally starting to accept that part of being an adult is just never having enough time to do all the things. And that if we worry about it too much, we’ll forget to rest for the moments in between, which can often be the most important.

I fully recommend having at least one large-scale, highly energizing project on your plate at all times. Seeing incremental progress and knowing the rippling positive impacts it will have when completed can really offset some of the other tedious BS.

Ok, #highered community: what are some ways a marketing office that does not include internal communications can help foster morale, share good news with faculty and staff, and improve information-sharing among colleagues?
