Pls consider ordering a book from your local indie bookshop *NOW* before holiday season to give store time to order title if they don't have it? This helps:

(1) support indie bkshops, (2) support human creators, (3) gets you ahead re: busy shopping time.

Psst: maybe one of my books? 🙏🏽💛 #KidLit

Togethercraft update: One of my new Minecraft friends gifted me some axolotl! I built a small pond but the baby axol has grown up already!

I told them about CUTE AS AN AXOLOTL written by my pal @jesskeatingbooks.bsky.social, illus by @daviddegrand.bsky.social.

Minecraft screenshot showing small pond with three axolotls swimming around, blocky salamander-like creatures. In the middle of the pond is a moss block with a small Minecraft figure. Book cover for Cute As An Axolotl: Discovering the World’s Most Adorable Animals by Jess Keating, with illustrations by David DeGrand. The cover shows a pale pink axolotl with feathery external gills against a black background. The title text is large and turquoise, with a pronunciation guide for “axolotl” shown as “(AX-uh-lot-ull).”

If you are ever in the Charlotte area, you MUST stop at Cleary’s in Mount Holly, NC. They have the best curated selection of children’s and YA stock I’ve ever seen. Thank you to Cleary’s and my dear friend Faith Huff for a wonderful evening!

There's a lot to study from Zohran Mamdani's electoral victory, but I'm particularly interested in its graphic design. Vivid, unexpected colors. A hand drawn feel that nods to the grassroots nature of the campaign, with nods to old NYC bodega signage, metro cards, and even old Bollywood posters.

Harriet Tubman #quilt by my Mom, Vera P. Hall, who makes quilts celebrating Black people who fought for their own freedom. This seems to be the crowd favorite of the “We Didn’t Wait for Freedom” series. Happy #Juneteenth #quilting
Colorful quilt of a nighttime scene with Harriet Tubman in an orange jacket and purple dress carrying a rifle. She is leading other figures who walk behind her.

Emily Paxman stands, holding a canvas poster of the cover of her book, Death on the Caldera. The book cover features a train pulling up through the mist, surrounded by a border of striking red and gold art deco designs and dark, foreboding mountains. Emily is wearing a gold and gray dress and her hair is curled real pretty.
