The Val hate train is performative nonsense based on this idea that SA is worse than death, which I dunno about you but most other survivors I've seen agree that's a shitty idea to put into our heads. It makes me feel like they're saying we're better off dead, whether they mean it that way or not.

Also there’s nothing wrong with liking tropes. Thats why fanfiction is so popular. But yeah, actual complete stories cannot be simplified into a trope. You can enjoy both but also understand where to separate the two.

That last sentence is SO important. Normalize just saying “this thing isn’t for me” instead of nitpicking and/or making things up to justify it in your head
There’s plenty of things I don’t like but it’s not worth my time or energy to find some dumb reason to explain why I just don’t vibe with it

My experience is far more peaceful when I actually *trust* the creators to let them cook above all else. I don’t feel the need to nitpick, or get myself lost in said nitpicks. I certainly wouldn’t take them as personal attacks.
