He's not scared. He's downright terrified.
He can't lose this. He can't hurt Husk, can't drag him down the next time Angel spirals. It's not fair.
"Angel, shh, it's okay," Husk soothes. "I've got you, you're okay."
Angel wants to believe it. He wants to believe it so badly. He pushes the cup of water back into Husk's hands, who quickly sets it aside.
"Talk to me, legs. Are you hurting still? I can get Charlie—"
Angel buries his head in the fur on Husk's shoulder.
He's so tired of fighting. He's tired of hating himself.
"I love you," he chokes out. "Husk, fuck, I love you." Each time he says it, a little of that fear fades away, because each time, Husk holds him closer.
Husk's forehead presses against his. They're both still a mess; Angel can smell the blood, the antiseptic, the angelic ichor that sticks in his fur. He doesn't care.
"I love—" Husk begins, softly.
Angel kisses him before the words can leave his lips.
It's messy and imperfect: sharp teeth clashing together and pulling at each other's fur with desperate hands. It's months of pent-up emotion, years of regret and heartbreak, and Angel feels like he's drowning. But Husk is there, holding his head above water.

And Alastor...oh, Alastor is seething. Still smiling, but snarling beneath it, brows furrowed, pupils nothing but pinpricks. There's ghosts of chains around his wrists, not his usual green, but deep red. They lead to Lucifer's feet, pulsing and flickering in and out of view.
They weren't letting him leave. Angel isn't sure whether to be grateful or terrified. On one hand, he wants an explanation for everything. He wants Alastor to face punishment-running away from the hotel, trapping Husk in an impossible contract, tricking Angel to get knowledge on the Vees.
On the other hand, Angel didn't want to find out what would happen when Alastor got free of those chains.
Vaggie clears her throat. "So, now that we're all here, we need everyone on the same page. What in the actual fuck happened?" She demands.
Next to Angel, Husk flinches. He may be an open book around Angel, but it is clear to the spider that it doesn't apply to anyone else.
"Vaggie, no," Charlie says. "Let's start small. Are you guys okay?"
Alastor hisses under his breath, his claws digging into the arms of the wooden chair like a wild animal. Husk shrinks back, ears entirely flat against his head, eyes locked on the Radio Demon.

100% agree. You don't NEED to have your villains be anything other than what fits.

My current novel they're rich, selfish, scumbags with zero redeemable qualities. They're greedy oligarchs—cartoonish and devoid of any morals. Perfect for slaying without any mercy of second chances.
