As a 32-year-old I recently had an episode where I blacked out started getting excited about my new hoover. I came to while comparing life insurance policies.
As someone who just turned 33 this month, I can confirm I’m already obsessing about square footage and tut-tutting about the “youth of today”.

This government has not taken a single meaningful step to tackle the causes of the horrendous inefficiencies in the criminal justice system, instead rushing to dismantle trial by jury.

Legal professionals have offered numerous alternatives to address the backlog.

Ministers are not listening.

So let me get this straight, Labour's plan to resolve the appalling crisis in the criminal justice system is to undermine the right to trial by jury?

Between that and anti-protest laws you could be forgiven for seeing an alarming authoritarian streak in Labour.

Some absolutely insane context here.

What on earth happened?
For context on just how far the Overton Window has shifted to the right on this issue, here’s a snippet from the BNP’s 2010 manifesto.

Please give it a read.

"As someone working in law, it’s heresy to say this, and it might even kill my chances of a career... But as a trans person, and someone fighting for the rights of my community, I refuse to remain silent. To me it just seems obvious: a heavily prejudiced society produces prejudiced institutions."
It’s no surprise that only 31% of trans people trust a legal system built to enforce prejudice, says Jess O’Thomson.

When I'm out and about in Manchester lately I often get this sixth sense of something off or hostile in the atmosphere, like a gut feeling?

This is recent, and not something I would associate with such a welcoming and diverse city.

It's unsettling. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has this.

Seeing how Dawn Butler was treated by the speaker of the House of Commons while responding to Sarah Pochin is appalling and entirely unsurprising.

In the U.K. calling someone out for racism is treated with greater severity than actually saying or doing something racist.

Police forces across the U.K. regularly bar football fans of a wide variety of clubs from attending some away matches when police have reason to believe allowing fans to attend may pose a risk to public safety. That’s a decision for the police and should have been the end of the matter.

● it's not "A level English" it's something called SELT
● much the same requirement exists elsewhere in EU
