Hydroponics… I got this 12 cell countertop hydroponic kit off Amazon and it’s is worth every cent!!! (On Prime Sale for £79.99). This time I am growing sweet and lettuce basil and it is now almost 5 weeks old… in another few weeks it will be totally filled with basil…the lettuce basil gets enormous
I think my health would be imperilled if I ate Ultra Processed Foods everyday… thank heavens I don’t have to… 🙏😃
Apples!! all the apples from my apple tree and those trees up and down the street are gone so I turn to the store. Mike Thorn in Gloucestershire grows the best (organic) apples I have ever had from the store, they aren’t around for long but I buy them up and have one a day with my homemade yogurt…
Homemade Balkan yogurt!!! It’s a smooth, creamy, slightly tangy yogurt eaten regularly in the Balkans… It’s similar to Bulgarian yogurt with the same live cultures, just in different proportions. My Luvele yogurt maker is the best ever after 40 years of making yogurt… it’s available worldwide too…
Homegrown!!! Microgreens are easy to grow and a wonderful source of nutrition… cress on the left which I planted 5 days ago (have had on heat pad and under grow light as it is now autumn with cooler temps/ shorter days), then on right is sunflower which are the trickiest of all to grow but worth it!
Spent morning pruning/weeding last bit before winter… I collected 17 x 20kg bags of horse manure from local stables in September and have spread beds w/ volcanic dust, covered with the manure for the winter… hopefully will get several hard freezes to break it up here on Bristol Channel, west Wales..
I am so excited for you and NYC!!! Wish I were there to help knock doors… congratulations for everything you have done to date and the difference you have made in the world!!! Looking forward to Mayor Mamdani!!!
From my greenhouse grown in a self watering container… first try and a great success! Almost too pretty to eat, but don’t want to wait too long and have something happen… I have left a few smaller ones to see how they go as the days grow shorter (51.6 N latitude) and the temperature cooler…
I have run the religious/spiritual gauntlet over and over and over since I was 8 years old, and now, 60 plus years on, I always come back to this…finding the divinity within is my only real goal in life… I have of course come to the conclusion that it certainly won’t happen in this lifetime… 🤪🙏
My Italian Treviso Radicchio growing in a self watering container in my greenhouse… even though the weather has turned to autumn, it is still growing and flourishing… my red pak choi however has given up… I shall note that for next year…
This poem was inspired by one of the greatest calamities in British military history: on Oct 25, 1854, during the Crimean War, the British Light Cavalry Brigade, comprising some 670 men, charged disastrously against some 25,000 Russian soldiers. Do people follow their leaders as ‘blindly’ today???
It’s a cactus, succulent, it can withstand drought… I put them out in my porch during summer and only water once completely dry and even then no rush… I bring them back in in September but some I do leave in year round… 😃
Funny thing is, what we call a Christmas Cactus appears to really be a thanksgiving cactus when you examine the leaves… I have never seen a Christmas cactus with the leaves as per this picture…
I lived in Bellevue as a child in 1961-62 and used to walk to the end of our street to look up at Mt Rainier!!! Of course I would get in trouble if caught as I was only 5 years old, but it didn’t stop me!!! It was like looking up to heaven!!!
My oldest Christmas Cactus is in full bloom… Nicholas is perhaps 10 years old and has been repotted several times… I had him at work for years until I retired and he decided to retire also and come home with me…🤪
How beautiful!!! They normally bloom from October on… I have several different ones and they bloom at different times but all pretty much around now except for my Easter cacti which bloom around Easter… hard to find here in the U.K. and finally found from a girl up in Scotland selling on Etsy…
My Vitamix! The Rolls Royce of blenders and worth its weight in gold if you ever only use it to grind fresh spices… I try to grind most all my spices within reason, e.g. cumin, coriander, fennel, nutmeg, long pepper, fenugreek, etc…
Homeless on the streets of London… I feel ashamed almost to be viewing this from my hotel room… These people are lucky now because it is dry, warm and they haven’t yet been moved on which I assume will happen at some point… this is across from Paddington Station…
Sunday dinner!!! Quick dinner with sprouting broccoli, butter & Parmesan cheese & then a quickie pizza using gluten free pre rolled puff pastry… a totally delicious meal… I rarely eat what I call non foods such as puff pastry which doesn’t add anything to my health, but occasionally I like a treat!
I just today watched you on Democracy Now!!! Thank you for such a balanced and thoughtful analysis of the situation as per Amy Goodman’s questions…👍
I love September at the grocers! Turkish #figs which have been around past few weeks and probably won’t be there next week and then the new season #pomegranates which look stunning and were only 79p at #Lidls they are normally about £1.25-1.50 each… and then the #wintersquashes unnamed at Lidl’s….
