A sense of connections made during their visit to Kilcullen was clear at the last event for visitors from Kilcullen’s Normandy twin town. The goodbyes yesterday between their hosts and both new and previous Saint-Contest friends were genuinely warm at the get-together in the Heritage Centre.
An initiative by Kilcullen Lions Club more than a quarter of a century ago demonstrated a practical way to provide social housing for older people. Now they have used that same 4-house development of St Brigid's Grove to show how homes can be retrofitted to a modern energy efficient level.

An initiative by Kilcullen Lions Club more than a quarter of a century ago demonstrated a practical way to provide social housing for older people. Now they have used that same 4-house development of St Brigid's Grove to show how homes can be retrofitted to a modern energy efficient level.

Last night's Ballyshannon Action Table Quiz raised over €1,000 towards the group's fighting fund against the proposed Kilsaran quarry in the area, writes Brian Byrne. The quiz was held in Dowling's Bar in Ballyshannon.

More than 70 CPC students took part in organising and running the now annual popup restaurant in the college last evening, showing off the skills learned in their TY Hospitality Module, writes Brian Byrne.

Kilcullen's Jack Courtney was one of the first two players to secure their darts tour cards for the 2025 JDC Advanced Tour via Q-School.

In an update on the street lights situation in Kilcullen, as recently highlighted on the Diary, further information has been provided by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, writes Brian Byrne. Basically, there will be light, hopefully soon.
The numbers drawn in the Kilcullen & Gormanstown Parish Lotto Draw held on 7 January 2025 were 2, 11, 13 and 22. There was no Jackpot winner and next week's main prize will again be €20,000. The value of the follow on Draw stands at €10,000.
