On #WildlifeConservationDay we are sharing this Elephant Aquamanile created in Syria in the twelfth or early thirteenth century which is formed from moulded stonepaste and finished with a softly opacified white glaze enhanced by turquoise and cobalt blue.

Sir David received the Freedom of the City of London from the Lord Mayor of London, Alastair King. Recognised by UNESCO, Queen Elizabeth II, and Pope Benedict XVI, he called it “extraordinarily special.” The Lord Mayor praised him as a leading champion of culture and global understanding.
