Now granted, I assume if Moffat saw my dorky middle aged “Babylon 5” T-shirt wearing ass heading toward him he would’ve beatEN a hasty retreat in the TARDIS so everything worked out for the best.
Spotted former “Doctor Who” show runner Stephen Moffat while I was wandering around London today and it took all my willpower not to yell, “Yo Steve! Loved ‘Blink’, my man!”
New episode of my podcast THE BEST STUFF IN THE WORLD, talking all things Alfred Hitchcock with guests @newlegendmike.bsky.social and Heather Stephenson!

Vertigo! Notorious! Psycho! North by Northwest! Rear Window! Shadow of a Doubt! Rebecca! And more!

That show is way better than it has any right to be. Just fantastic.
R.I.P. to the great Diane Keaton, whose performances in Reds, Annie Hall, The Godfather, Love and Death, and so many others are among the best ever done in movies by anyone. She could break your heart and make you laugh, often at the same time. An absolute legend.

This one’s tough. Metropolis. Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Spirited Away. Godzilla. Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. Passion of Joan of Arc. Brief Encounter. City of God.
The Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline is one of only four places in the world screening ONE BATTLE ANOTHER in VistaVisiion so what kind of movie nerd would I be if I didn’t check it out? Totally phenomenal - Wowee zowee what a great film!

At the Richmond, VA airport finishing up the first leg of my month of travel. Next up: DC for a conference, then South Carolina, then London to direct a video shoot. I miss my couch already.
I don’t know @alkennedy.bsky.social outside of listening to his podcasts but he posted this mixtape to Spotify a few days ago and I’ve been really enjoying it! Also: I miss mixtapes (both making and receiving.)

Jim Henson would've been 89 years old today. Commemorate his life and legacy by celebrating creativity, diversity, imagination, peace, and just plain silliness.

Walk with me a bit while I talk about Jim and his work--and leave your comments about what he means to you.

Right this way. /1
This is one of my very favorite images, as it features characters performed by Jim Henson throughout his life holding photos (or, in the case of Ernie, drawings) of him at about the period he was performing the character. Among the Muppets shown: Cantus, Dr. Teeth, the Swedish Chef, Sam, Link Hogthrob, Ernie, Kermit (two iterations), and Guy Smiley.
Today’s the day Debbie Harry raps about Fab Five Freddy, right?
What movie do you consider "perfect"?

(The Night of the Hunter, 1955)
Hiked up a hill to this stone tower. Should we storm it?
A stone tower.
Shit, I think you're right! I haven't seen The Snapper in ages and all of my memories of that movie revolve around having a radio cohost named Borges (which sounded like the Dad's pronunciation of "Burgess") and playing clips on the radio of Colm Meaney yelling things at "Borges"

Unremarked upon by the kids during SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL viewing: "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" cover that sounds like the Pogues when they did "I'm a Man You Don't Meet Every Day" but isn't by the Pogues (it's by LICK THE TINS) - when I saw that movie as a kid I was all WHAT IS THIS?!?
My 10 year old daughter's review of SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL: It was good. Watts was the best character. I like the story in general and how it's about that it doesn't matter how much money you have to be a good person. Keith was stupid to not realize how cool Watts is. I didn't like all the kissing.
Mary Stuart Masterson as Watts in the film Some Kind of Wonderful, playing the drums.

Born w/ Teeth was on my shortlist (I'll prob regret not going) - I'd like to get to NY at some point to see stuff but it hasn't worked out. Went in May to see Death of Rasputin, which was great (& my friend Kelly produced it so I got in free), but I really want to see Viola's Room/Oh Mary/Masquerade
For me it’s get in Tuesday night, try and sleep, direct a video shoot on Wednesday, then THEATER THEATER THEATER Wed night and Thursday and fly back Friday morning. Not ideal. Almost opted for museums on Thursday afternoon but thought the Globe would be fun.
