No one has truly confronted the fact that even as the regime’s popularity drops, there are still 100 million American adults who support everything it is doing, from the ethnic cleansing to the crimes against humanity to the venal corruption to the destruction of the country itself.

Never forget that Trump views the military as his personal property, and servicemembers aren’t human beings to him. In his view, they’re inanimate tools to be used and disposed of at his personal whims, including political distraction or personal profit.

The long-term prospects for my country are poor because the level of constitutional treachery, massive inexcusable corruption, & horrifying criminality requires a response that will inevitably be interpreted by large segments of society as an attack on them, setting up years of escalating conflict

And it seems to me. That this problem starts to become a massive one for leaders. How can they be happy that their sailors and subordinates start to think they are working for a broken and corrupt organization and questioning whether every act is proper and a “real legitimate order”.

The institutions are not equipped to fix these broken things and are actually engineered to prevent improving them. The system has endless veto points to prevent restoration. The institutions are sclerotic. It will always be faster and easier to destroy than to build or rebuild.
