#TDIH - October 16, 1937 - First flight of the Short S.25 Sunderland, a British flying boat patrol bomber, developed and constructed by Short Brothers for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft took its service name from the town and port of Sunderland in North East England.

#TDIH - October 14, 1938 - First flight of the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, an American single-engined, single-seat, all-metal fighter and ground-attack aircraft. The P-40 design was a modification of the previous Curtiss P-36 Hawk which reduced development time and enabled a rapid entry into production.
