#Autumn in the desert, means migrating hummingbirds:

Rufous Hummingbird with autumn-like, vibrant orange colors.
This one’s white chest feathers, were especially bright.

These wonderful hummingbirds are usually seen only during autumn & spring migrations here… A small desert bird in mid-flight, hovering for a moment… His throat has a vibrant deep-orange iridescence. Body is mostly rufous colored, with some dark green feathers on his head… From a few years ago.

Pastel clouds, being the center focus, are moving towards each other… In hues of light gold, soft white with a hint of peach, & a sublime grey. The sky is a peaceful blue. Dark storm clouds are along the bottom of image & upper corners, but making way for peace to enter.

This hummer is likely a female Rufous Hummingbird, they visit regularly. She was quickly flying this way and that way, yet with grace and quiet elegance, in the midst of many leaves & stems. The deep-green & rufous feather colors, cause her to blend in nearly completely… From summer.

Seen by happenstance, while leisurely driving along a mountain road, several years ago. I think it’s a Beehive Cactus – about 6 in. tall, with 2 in. flowers. Small greenish cactus, with many thin sharp spines, crowned with pink flowers. Blooms after a good rain. Flowers last just one day, according to one identification book… Amazing to see.
