A deep dive by the San Francisco Fed into the macro impacts of U.S. tariff policy since 1870. Mildly surprising finding that increased tariffs actually decrease inflation, presumably by slowing the economy. No surprise that higher tariffs depress employment through the same mechanism.

Many, many years ago I had to learn a lot about the Law of the Sea. I was helping to negotiate a NATO agreement on Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and a treaty to require double bottoms for oil tankers. It is clear to me that the Trump tyranny is committing murder on the high seas.

We told him so, but I don’t think the tariff tyrant reads BlueSky. And probably not the FT.
My Trade Secrets today. Funny* thing about Trump's tariffs: they're really unpopular and he's retreating from them even before most of the bad effects have come through. God knows what will happen when they do.

*By funny I mean both unexpected but also very amusing.

I’ve opposed crypto from the first. It has no practical uses. Let’s see, you can use it to launder money, or to gamble and speculate (not invest), or use it to bribe people (famously, people named Trump). That’s about it. Oh, it also makes you a target for crypto thieves. Stay away, stay far away.
