The only thing keeping me on FB is that I would losse touch with so many friends and family if I left. But it is becoming more of a propaganda tool for the tyranny.

Our Pacific Island population needs to be included. The map gives the impression that Hawaii leans Italian. In fact, we celebrate Discovers Day, remembering the ancient Polynesian navigators, Captain Cook, or both, as you choose. Columbus is irrelevant out here.

Have you no shame? Six years old.

Like everything else, the GOP budget will be ready in another couple of weeks - eternally.

We are reaching the point at which Trumpian tariffs become effective embargoes on trade. I’m sure American farmers will appreciate the higher costs and lack of choice that their orange tyrant is forcing on them.

MAGAs aren’t really into establishing cause and effect if it might interfere with their preconceptions.

The U.S. Mainland may celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day or Columbus Day, take your pick. Here in Hawaii, we call it Discoverers Day. We can celebrate the arrival of the ancient Polynesian voyagers a thousand years ago or the more recent exploits of Capt. James Cook. Or both. Columbus is irrelevant.

They never say how much the protesters are paid. Or how I can apply for the job. I still haven’t found our local Antifa office.

I favor an embargo on smooth, but subsidies to boost crunchy production.

Mona, Simon, I like BlueSky but still mourn the loss of good people who we lost in the flight from “trade Twitter”. But BlueSky has attracted some of the journalists who need ideas and experience on trade matters. It’s important that, whatever comes, we don’t leave those journalists behind.

Retaliation can be such fun! But this will have limited impact because so few U.S.-flag vessels survive in international shipping. China’s retaliation will be more important to foreign shipping lines with substantial U.S. ownership. Don’t think this was what the tyrant intended with his port fees.
China hits US ships with retaliatory port fees before trade talks
China has hit American-owned vessels docking in the country with tit-for-tat port fees. The announcement was made by China's Ministry of Transport on Friday.

Let’s nominate Antifa for the 2026 prize.

Krugman makes a great point that Trump’s tariffs encourage importers to avoid or evade them. All his exceptions and special favors make that easier. And pulling CBP off for immigration raids means there are fewer experienced agents who know what they are seeing when they check customs invoices.

The Führer doesn’t understand how the process works. Nominations for the 2025 prize closed months ago. The Gaza “agreement” could make him eligible next year if it is finalized, and seems to produce lasting peace. We’re a long way from that. He won’t get it Friday.
Truly, madly, deeply: Trump’s desire for a Nobel peace prize is driving diplomacy
The US president’s fervid pursuit of the award is believed to have been a key motivator in brokering peace deals in Ukraine and Gaza

With so many agents reassigned to do immigration raids, the orange Führer may have created a dandy time to conduct criminal activity in the United States. But the cretin doesn’t think that far ahead.

USA Today pretty much ignores Trump’s tariffs. The main U.S. suppliers of cocoa and cocoa products are Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Dominican Republic and Ghana. All of them received so-called "reciprocal" tariffs, ranging from 15% to 25%. Might have a bit to do with the price of chocolate.
Why are Halloween chocolate prices so scary? We explain.
The price of cocoa has more than doubled since the beginning of 2024 -- and it remains high.
