The Trump administration has once again opted to cut food assistance to hungry seniors, children, veterans, and people with disabilities. This is a manufactured crisis that continues to get worse as it drags on due to the legally and morally questionable decisions made by this administration.
Trump administration will tap contingency funds to make partial SNAP payments - The Boston Globe
But the US Department of Agriculture has refused to dip into other funds to make full food stamp payments for November.

Open Enrollment starts today, and that means many of you will be exploring options as you face steep premium increases as a result of changes made by Republicans in Congress.

If you're one of the 93% of ACA enrollees facing increases, please share your story: https://keating.house.gov/yourpremiums
We knew POTUS was acting illegally by refusing to issue November SNAP benefits, and now we have the court order to prove it. 42 million Americans - and 1 in 9 veterans - are facing hunger tomorrow because Donald Trump chose to break the law and put his own politics ahead of the American people.
POTUS is faced with two options: he can direct USDA to pay out SNAP benefits or he can do nothing and force 42 million Americans to go hungry. Starving Americans to score political points shouldn’t be considered an option at all, but the cruelty all too often seems to be the point these days.
The GOP's absent, unserious approach to the shutdown (and the Speaker's efforts to stall the swearing in of Rep-Elect Grijalva to avoid a vote on releasing the Epstein Files) is maddening on it's own - but it's especially egregious when it's blocking pay for our men and women in uniform.
The House GOP left DC on September 19th and, despite their ongoing government shutdown, have not returned to DC since.
I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 5401 - the Pay Our Troops Act of 2026 which will ensure our military personnel do not miss their October 15th paycheck, and I joined my colleagues in calling on Speaker Johnson to reconvene the House so we can vote on it ASAP.
My office has compiled a list of FAQs regarding the current GOP shutdown. We will update it as more information is received from federal agencies and as new questions come in. If your question isn’t answered here, please give us a call to address your inquiry: http://keating.house.gov/shutdown
Republicans decided long ago that they could govern without Democrats, and while the GOP may not think they need us, the American people do, and we are answering their call to fight and negotiate.
We are facing an unprecedented health care crisis caused by Trump & the GOP – with ACA credits set to expire, 29,000 of our neighbors here in our district will see their health care costs rise. We are in the midst of the largest cut to American healthcare in history - that’s why we're fighting back.
If acetaminophen is too big of a word, and not eating horse dewormer or injecting Lysol is too big of a concept, you’re probably not talking to a medical doctor. Do not take medical advice from politicians, seek it from your own doctors, and get a second opinion when necessary.
Trump's vacillation on Russia and Putin must stop. There's too much at stake. We have the ability to avoid a direct conflict with troops on the ground in Poland, but we must act now. I commend our Polish and NATO allies for their measured response.
I have signed onto the discharge petition to move forward with the disclosure of the Epstein files - and I applaud the brave women who came forward yesterday to share their story.
Today’s diplomatic TACO didn’t deliver a ceasefire, nor did it result in the promised “severe consequences” for Russia. The only thing Donald Trump did was allow Putin more time to wage his illegal war.
Occupying Gaza City will only endanger hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestinians who will again be displaced by this conflict, worsen the humanitarian situation, and further threaten the remaining hostages.

Full statement:
When Trump entered office, the average tariff on European products was 1.5%. His new trade "deal" with the EU raises tariffs to 15%, passing that cost onto the American people.

Bullying allies into paying tariffs only hurts Americans who will now pay more for everyday products.
I'm sure Republicans wanted this immoral bill passed in the middle of the night, but we're not letting that happen. We're making sure the American public has every chance to see eactly what's going on.
You know, it might be a big bad ugly bill, but it's an easy vote. I'm voting no. Hell no.
Firing America's diplomats leaves us less safe, less secure, & less prosperous. This potential decision will have devastating long-term impacts on America's influence around the world.

I stand with my colleagues and call on Sec. Rubio to halt the gutting of our diplomatic corps.
America’s diplomatic corps is needed now more than ever.

59 of my colleagues joined me in urging Secretary Rubio to halt FSO firings and resume the administration of FSOTs.
The law, at its core, is designed to protect every person whose authentic existence is questioned - and today's ruling undermines that principle. Here are some of my remarks to the MA LBGTQ Bar Association from earlier this month:
Freedom delayed is freedom denied. Today, as we observe Juneteenth, we celebrate the progress made, but also reflect on the truths of our nation's history and the work that still lies ahead.
I am shocked and saddened by what has happened in MN. . I am praying for the recovery of Sen. Hoffman and his wife and for Rep. Hortman’s children. This senseless violence has no place in our country.
We know that the GOP is abdicating their Constitutional oversight authority because they're afraid of Donald Trump, and the reaction Senator Padilla received today makes clear that it's not just mean tweets the GOP is scared of.
We know why Kristi Noem is stonewalling us - her department is making sloppy mistakes with no regard for the Constitution, and she's afraid of being held accountable for the harm she has caused to communities throughout our nation.
